The dishes were presented in a buffet, and everyone had the opportunity to try each dish and provide their feedback on each one through a feedback portal. John Tuzi – The Director of Operations of Global Cafe shared:

The feedback was great

He added that the feedback was very valuable for Global Cafe to improve the dishes’ quality. Nine dishes were selected out of 10 to be introduced in June. John also expressed his satisfaction with the atmosphere of the tasting day:

ISHCMC Donates Bicycle to Child in Need in Mekong Delta

During last year’s Festive Bazaar at our school, our Head of School, Mrs. Kim Green won a bicycle in a raffle. She generously donated the bike to , our local charity partner at the event. We are delighted to share that this donated bicycle has since been delivered to Hoai Thuong, a diligent Grade 8 student studying at a local school in the Mekong Delta region. Thuong’s family is facing financial difficulties, but with the delivery of this bicycle, she will be able to access education more easily.

The ability to travel is a critical factor in ensuring access to education, especially in rural areas. Many students like Thuong have to walk long distances to get to school. The provision of a donated bicycle can have a significant impact on their lives, making it easier for them to attend school regularly, avoid fatigue, and arrive on time. It’s a simple yet effective solution that can remove significant barriers to education for financially challenged students.

Our donated bicycle is just one of the many ways in which individuals can help to support local charities and communities. By giving back to organizations that work tirelessly to make a difference, we can help to create positive and lasting change in our society. Through initiatives like this, we can turn small actions into outcomes that matter.

Bicycle Donation Reaches to the Child in Need

Saigonchildren has played a vital role in facilitating our donation, ensuring the delivery of the bike to Thuong. Their mission is to tackle poverty by providing education, training, and healthcare support to disadvantaged children and young people in Vietnam. The donated bicycle is just one of the many ways in which they achieve their goals, and we are proud to support their efforts as a charity partner.

In conclusion, Mrs. Kim Green’s donated bicycle has made an important difference in the life of Hoai Thuong, enhancing her education access and improving the quality of her life. We encourage everyone to consider donating to causes and charities they care about to help support the local community. Every little bit counts and can go a long way towards creating meaningful change. Let’s continue to work together towards a brighter future for all.

We hope to work with Saigonchildren with many more charity projects in the months / years ahead.

ISHCMC Joins Hands to Help The Environment

On April 22nd, 91Թ students and parents, together with the local community, were excited to be part of the World Earth Day Clean Up to help refreshing the environment hosted by and 91Թ Eco-Schools CAS Group.

World Earth Day Clean Up

As a community-led organization working to raise awareness about plastic pollution in Vietnam, Re-Think Plastic Vietnam usually hosts many activities to respond to their vision. This community clean up event for a fresher environment is just one part of a series.

Always caring about the environment, both ISHCMC as well as the local community, were pleased and energetic to join in the Clean Day. Over 100 participants took part in the event. They helped cleaning up over 150 full bags of plastic from the environment.

When asked about the purpose of the event, Ms. Karen Smit from Re:Think Vietnam shared:

The impact we aim for is awareness.

Our Community Joins Hands to Help The Environment 2

She believes that people do not realize the alarming numbers of rubbish and plastic that are disposed of every day until they start cleaning up the streets. Therefore, by starting to clean up the surrounding area, our community can start making a tangible impact on the environment.

Ms. Karen is also confident with the ability to create even more positive impacts on the environment of 91Թ students.

She suggests that the students should equip themselves with a sense of knowledge about collected trash, as well as coming up with innovative solutions for the collected plastic, so that it doesn’t end up in the environment again.

Our Community Joins Hands to Help The Environment 3

Once again, 91Թ is so happy to have had a chance to work with Re:Think Plastic Vietnam to host such a meaningful and influential event that has such a positive impact on our surrounding environment. Please be sure to look out for the RPV Plastic Awareness Month in September, in which 91Թ will be taking part!

The Health Coach Behind Global Cafe Nutritious Meals

We recently had a great talk with Ms. Hien, Health Coach at Global Cafe, to understand more about her great efforts in ensuring our students have access to healthy and nutritious meals.

Being the integrative nutrition health coach at Global Cafe, Ms Hien is in charge of overseeing the entire menu, making sure to meet the nutritional needs of the students.

Commenting on the food ingredients’ quality of Global Cafe, she shared: “The ingredients we use are fresh and qualified.” The food that Global Cafe uses never contains much harmful pesticide or chemicals and is from reputable suppliers. Additionally, Ms. Hien also informed us that: “Our chef commits not to use any MSG or too much seasoning powder”. Global Cafe always commits to using healthy cooking ingredients and cooking methods. Therefore, parents can be assured that students are always served with healthy food.

Ms. Hien has applied various methods to entice students to get enough nutrition: “I adjust meals based on children’s normal favorite food, like creamy pasta; into a healthier version; or have sauce made from vegetables, like pumpkin alfredo, and in easy-to-eat food, like risotto or goulash.” Moreover, Ms. Hien and the Global Cafe staff are working hard to improve the nutritional values of other courses, such as desserts and drinks, as well as to arrange the nutritious meals as beautifully as possible to increase students’ appetites.

From our chat with Ms. Hien, we could see just how dedicated Global Cafe is to making sure nutritious meals are both healthy and tasty for all our students. As a school, we are very happy to be in partnership with Global Cafe! Bon appétit!

Rhino Academy is Back for Term 4

Have you, as parents, ever considered taking classes again? If not, it might be worth your while to explore Rhino Academy, an exclusive educational series for ISHCMC parents.

This program offers engaging and informative classes, workshops, and more, covering a diverse range of topics such as cooking, yoga, and digital design, taught by specialized teachers and parents of 91Թ.

Despite being labeled as “classes,” which might sound intimidating to some, the Rhino Academy sessions go beyond mere instructions. The sessions offer parents the opportunity to actively ‘be a part’ of the 91Թ community that their children are already a part of. By learning new skills and experiences, parents can gain insights into how 91Թ delivers education. Furthermore, Ms. Evan Johnson – the coordinator of the program also shared that parents can recall their past school life by:

Learning, struggling with unfamiliar knowledge and creating memories.

Although classes are English based, our instructors aim to make the lessons simple to understand. During class discussions with fellow parents and instructors, parents can improve their language skills and adapt to the language in a realistic context. For those who have concerns about language barriers, Mrs. Mayu Murata, the co-coordinator of the program, highly encourages you to sign-up for the series since this would be:

A great chance to step into the English community that 91Թ can offer to our parents.

Mrs. Mayu Murata and Ms. Evan Johnson - The coordinators of Rhino Academy

Please check the class offerings at this Rhino Academy Padlet, and register for classes at the enrollment form. Enrollment is open from 7:00 PM on Monday, April 17 – 8:00 AM on Friday, May 05, and the five-week classes begin in May.

ISHCMC Canteen Improvements & Future Plans

has introduced various measurements for quality improvements and accessibility of food for our students. At the Primary campus, they have reintroduced a Vietnamese Soup Station, a Taco Bowl Counter, and a “make your own wrap” counter, while at the Secondary campus, a new “express” counter was trialed and installed, providing popular snacks, smoothies, and juices. Global Cafe, in collaboration with the Primary Leadership Team, parents and students, has also created a “Nutrition Team” to develop and implement new initiatives, such as the “Salad Boat” that offers fresh raw vegetables during lunchtime.

To encourage healthy eating habits, under the initiative of the Nutrition Team at Primary, Global Cafe have also launched a program called “Students serving Students”. The program encourages students to learn about food service, safety, and hospitality by participating in the daily food service at the “make your own wrap” station, under the supervision of the principal and Global Cafe. It has grown from 2 to almost 20 student volunteers, and the results have been impressive, with education and encouragement coming from their peers.

Moving forward, Global Cafe has set out several goals for the future improvements to its food services. They aim to implement a Smart Card system across both campuses and also plan to introduce a “Nutritious” option of the day, with a menu to be designed by both Global Cafe and the community. Additionally, the organization intends to work closely with farms that support the best growing practices to implement a “farm to table” program for raw vegetables, chicken, and eggs. Lastly, they are reviewing service times, schedules, and operations to implement new service styles, options, and layouts for the upcoming academic year.

Summer Camp at 91Թ In 2023 | 91Թ

Summer camp offers an exciting opportunity for children to discover new activities, forge new friendships, and make memories that will last a lifetime. It is also an excellent chance for children to immerse themselves in the local culture and develop important skills.

If you are a parent seeking the best summer camps at international schools in District 2, this article is for you. Keep reading to learn about the benefits of enrolling your child in summer camp, as well as exciting suggestions for Summer Camps 2023 at 91Թ.

Introduction of Summer Camps at 91Թ

After the success of our previous summer camps at 91Թ since 2018, we are delighted to offer three unique summer camps for the summer of 2023 in collaboration with 91Թ. These camps are open to students aged 5 to 15 from any school in Ho Chi Minh City and will run for five weeks (25 days) with a different theme each week.

Many summer camps offered by other schools and language centers can be very basic and generic, simply using generic study materials that are often outdated and not engaging for children. While these camps may provide some basic English language skills, they lack the personalized and student-centered approach that is essential for students to truly excel.

At Inspire Educamps, we believe that mindset is at the heart of everything we do. Our summer camps are designed to be engaging, interactive, and relevant to the needs of our students. We take great care to ensure that our programs are tailored to the individual needs and learning styles of each student, so that they can make the most of their time with us.

Our approach is different from other schools and language centers because we believe that learning should be fun and meaningful. We use a variety of engaging activities and projects to help students build important life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication. By incorporating these skills into our summer camps, we help students develop a positive mindset and empower and motivate children to become lifelong learners!

Mindset Summer Camp - 91Թ Secondary Campus (5- 15 years old)

Summer Camps at 91Թ

The goal of each weekly theme is to expose students to unique learning opportunities linked to personal vision and growth mindset. With a focus on building confidence, these individual learning experiences will help guide students on their larger journey as lifelong learners.

STEM English Summer Camp - 91Թ Primary Campus (5 - 11 years old)

Summer Camps at 91Թ 2

With the theme MISSION to MARS, STEM English Summer Camp will take children on a journey throughout the summer, where they will discover fun and exciting concepts as they let their imagination run to another world!

The STEM ENGLISH sessions are led by our qualified and experienced English Language teachers. In these sessions, our teaching staff will focus on creating the right balanced learning environment aimed at fast-tracking English Language acquisition as children engage in inquiry-based differentiated learning.

English Language learning and confidence building will continue in our full immersion program in all activity sessions (Sports, Team-building, Arts & Crafts, Life-Skills & Cooking).

Academic English Sumer Camp - 91Թ-AA (8-15 years old)

Academic English Summer Camp helps students to become more confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged in English. Besides focusing on all areas of the curriculum through:

  • Speaking and listening
  • Grammar
  • Vocabulary
  • Pronunciation
  • Communication and conversation strategies
  • Reading and writing

Students will have fun doing mini projects, creating a weekly newsletter, and participating in organized activities (Thinking & Study Skills, Sports & Activities, Team building, and Cooking) to consolidate and give meaning to their learning.

Benefits of 91Թ’s Summer Camps for students

The summer camps at 91Թ are more than just a way to pass the time. They are filled with laughter, smiles, and exciting activities, but they are also formative and educational in important ways. The main benefits of joining Summer Camps at 91Թ are listed below:

Teamwork
At our summer camps, we prioritize teamwork by emphasizing the importance of team building activities. These activities not only boost children’s confidence and promote their self-esteem but also encourage them to learn the true value of collaboration. Friendship
Our summer camp is a great place for your child to meet other children and make new friends. Through participating in activities and overcoming challenges together, they will develop meaningful connections with their peers that can last a lifetime.

Encourage Personal Growth
One of the primary benefits of attending our summer camp is that it provides a safe and supportive environment for children to step out of their comfort zones and explore their abilities. Through participating in activities they have never tried before, children are encouraged to take risks, overcome challenges, and develop new skills, ultimately fostering their personal growth.

Screen-free fun
Our summer camp provides a break from the digital world and offers an opportunity for children to engage in various activities that encourage creativity, imagination, and physical activity. With endless opportunities to explore and enjoy, children can rediscover the simple joys of life beyond the screen.

Relive some of the best moments from the World Food Festival!

Last Saturday’s World Food Fest was a fantastic success! The event brought together students, parents, teachers, and staff to celebrate the incredibly diverse culture represented in our school community. At the food festival, parent country representatives ran food booths offering their own traditional dishes for everyone to try, and students showcased their respective countries with lively performances. The event was a melting pot of cultures, and it was a truly unforgettable experience for everyone who attended.

Our Primary Campus was filled with wonderful smells from across the world, and the sounds of the music and laughter filled the venue. The booths were decorated with flags and other traditional items, creating a truly immersive experience. Visitors could sample a wide range of delicious food!

The performances by the students were a highlight of the event. Each group had prepared a dance or song representing their country, and the performances were a feast for the eyes and ears. The audience cheered and clapped along, enjoying the wonderful display of talent and cultural richness.

Our community is very diverse, with students and families from all over the world. The World Food Fest is an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate this diversity. It is a chance to learn about different cultures, to try new foods, and to make new friends.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the parent country representatives who worked tirelessly to make the event a success. Without their hard work and dedication, the World Food Fest would not have been possible. We are truly grateful for their efforts.

More photos of the event will be shared soon, so keep an eye out for them on the Rhino Hub and social media channels. We hope that everyone who attended the World Food Fest had a fantastic time and that it helped to foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of our diverse community.
